About us

Tea By The Nile was created to bring awareness to African hospitality. Inspired by South Sudanese culture and the custom of tea gatherings, this brand is a tribute to the presence and connection that tea has brought across time.

Growing up, I was always being told to "Bring the guest shai (tea)" by my mother when we welcomed guests into our home. Hearing it so often made me aware of how African hospitality is often overlooked. Small gestures like offering tea help strengthen bonds within our community. In our culture, it is customary to place tea sets in china cabinets, where they are kept and admired as part of the home.

In many countries in East Africa, tea is traditionally served in glass. The transparency allows the tea to be experienced in its full form, its colour visible as people gather and connect in the moment.

Tea By The Nile is an heirloom gift, crafted in glass to be both used and admired. It reflects the compassion found in African geniality. From the tea ladies making their living along the River Nile to the reunions held in our living rooms, this is a story of African culture that is just beginning to be told.
